Marie Carmen Koppel — Forgiveness

“Forgiveness” is the sound of life’s biggest emotions. No matter what life throws at us, I truly believe that strength comes from forgiveness, even when it’s hardest to understand. This album marks a big turning point for me. The last few years have been a rollercoaster—navigating the pandemic, canceled tours, health struggles, and a long, exhausting fight with the Danish Immigration Service over my husband’s residence permit. I had to dig deep to find the inspiration and energy to keep going, but in the end, that became my light in the dark—and the foundation for this album. Now, with most of those challenges behind me, I’m finally in a place where I can share this music with you. “Forgiveness” is deeply rooted in the gospel, soul, and R&B traditions that have shaped me, but it also brings something new—something powerful—that comes from creating music with people who truly get me. I poured my heart into this, and I hope you can feel it. With a mix of deep respect for my musical roots and a fresh take on the sound of 2023, this album was recorded with some of Denmark’s absolute finest musicians. I can’t wait for you to hear it!
